Hi there! Welcome to Statistics and Theory, a RUclips channel dedicated to promoting and propagating anything scientific about language in general and quantitative and assessment methods in particular.
You will find a range of videos on topics such as language comprehension, language production, quantitative techniques, and language testing methods that will be of interest to the general public and/or specialists.
In addition, there are three types of memberships available. Through your membership, you will support the channel and have a better chance to discuss your research questions, study design, and publication questions with us.
As always, please free to contact me if you have any questions :-)

Meta-analysis 2.0 in the Language Sciences: Current Advances in Synthetic Methods | Interface 3
Просмотров 700Месяц назад
Synthetic methods are very well established. Indeed, several hundred research syntheses and meta-analyses have been published across a wide range of domains within the applied language sciences. This body of work has yielded numerous insights (Chong & Plonsky, in press). As we might expect in any active empirical arena, a number of innovations in synthetic methods have been introduced in recent...

Calculating t-values for Pearson correlations
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Welcome to this tutorial on calculating t-values in Pearson correlations! In this video, I'll discuss the formula t=r√n−2/√1−r^2 to understand its components, significance, and application. Using real-world data sets, I'll demonstrate the step-by-step process of determining the t-value for a given correlation coefficient. I also show how to compare the estimated t value with a critical value an...

This video is good, but the problem is that you seem to be withholding information and compelling viewers to go and watch other videos.
It was great. Thanks for your full explanation ❤
14:22 Hi sir, some people say that the extraction value must be more than 0.5, if it is below that then you have to eliminate that variable. but you make a big deal out of it
As always a really clear walk through, many many thanks
Muchas gracias... thank you so much
thank you very much Sir..
Thank you for this video What software do you use for the presentation?
Thank you very much for this video, it helped a lot. One question: I have SPSS V27, working with R 3.3 or 3.6. I appreciate it if you share how I access IRT packages for R 3.6. I receive the message that "MASS" is not available for version 3.6. Best wishes
Dear Professor Vahid, My question is, at the momemts 0 and 1 of the study all my partipants were evaluated. However, at the moments 2 and 3, some of them drop out of the study. Then, the sum of squares is Type III or I need to change the type? Thank you in adanve for your attention. Best regards
Interesting and also visually appealing 🙏🏻👏🏼. Tnx
👏🏼👏🏼
✨🙌🏼
My correlation matrix result is not showing. Its just showing " this result is non positive definitive ". What to do now?
Thank you. Very helpful.🎉
may i know how to interpret below for a simple mediation : Indirect Effect: 0.47 component: 0.31 component 0.15 Direct .043 Total .09 All with significant results but seems the numbers are very small Does this considered as a weak mediation? Do I have to address in my paper? Thank you so much
Thank you Vahid, that's very helpful. In terms of calculating the number of free parameters, I noticed different sources use different formulae in estimating a total number of structural model parameters. Any suggestion?
Thank you, Prof. I would be glad if you could provide sources for the thresholds.
Brilliant, many thanks for making something complex seem so straightforward
Dr Luke Plonsky's enthusiasm and deep knowledge of the field make him a great choice for this series. Have benefitted from this channel. Good job Vahid jaan!
Thanks Prof. Can you tell me which software you are using for screen capture?? Its annotation feature is very helpful
Thanks a lot! Can you give a source for the local independeny and >.3 ? :)
When I try it, Jamovi always say: argument has length: >1. What should I do? :(
Professor, can I do LPA with Jamovi?
with the total sample 405, shapiro wilk (p value) is false?
Thank you for the informative and clear video. May I know if it is possible in Jamovi (interactive) for one of the endogenous or exogenous factors to be an observed variable while the rest remain as latent variables?
Wonderful
👍
why you do not use Jamovi insted of SPSS?
Inquiry: If I had one group of males and females, and I applied treatment to them and took three measurements If the conditions for a t-test are present, use a two-sample t-test to test the treatment difference between males and females in each measurement Secondly, it is possible to use a repeated-measures test to compare the effect of treatment on males in repeated measurements I repeat this again for females
perfect👌👌👌
Good day and good jobs 👍👍
Great video! Thanks. :)
Thanxxx a lot !
Thank you so much for your help
object 'SEM' not found
Thank you for making these videos!! Still super useful in 2024!
I've found your videos really useful. King Regards 👍👍
Excel? 😂😂😂

Sir, please tell how to do Invariance of Formative Measures (Structure invariance, Slope invariance, and Residual invariance)? Please share a link of the video if u have one...
I loved your video and how you explained each component in the table. However, I am a bit confused about the Principle Component and Principle axis factoring, what is the difference between them and let's say if I am looking into the student's perception of Game-Based Learning, which one should i use from both of them. Also, regarding the rotation, can i use Varimax instead of Promax and vice versa? i would be happy if you could reply to this question. Thank you so much, Dr.
I think we already encounter much AI-generated text, which could soon become part of norms and be part of the constructs, but the thing is that the ability of AI to convey cultural depths needs further investigation. Learners could be exposed to AI-generated text if potential biases brought by AI could be reduced. It’s critical that testers have the literacy to recognize and correct such biases (especially in their local tests) to avoid negative impacts on learners' understanding of diverse cultures, languages, and communities.
nicely said.
Absolutely useful. Thank you for sharing
watched your panel discussion at CES this morning and followed to your RUclips channel. Thank you for your sharing and insightful ideas.
Thank you for attending the symposium!
Hello, I was wondering if you teach R studio through zoom?
Thank you Sir.Sir can you please tell me when we obliged to use SEM than other models ?
Thanks 🌷
Great one. Thanks Dr
That was great👌👌👌👏👏👏👏
